The Palouse Choral Society (PCS) seeks a new artistic and music director starting July 2018. The PCS is an auditioned all
volunteer chorale which includes a smaller auditioned chamber choir and Children’s Choir (under a separate director)
located in the quad city area of Washington and Idaho which includes the areas of the Palouse, Clearwater, Valley and
Prairie. The Artistic and Music Director serves under contract with the PCS Board of Directors and is responsible to the
Board for fulfillment of the responsibilities of the position. The current program includes weekly rehearsals beginning in
late August through April, three to four annual concerts and one to two fundraising events.
Position Responsibilities include
Work with the PCS Board of Directors to schedule and program concerts at least one year in advance.
Conduct rehearsals and major concerts for the Chorale and Chamber Choir.
Audition (all) singers for membership in the Chorale and Chamber Choir.
Arrange for outside professional musicians as needed for concerts.
Attend meetings of the Executive Board and Board of Directors.
Promote the choral society through community outreach, fundraising and networking.
Advance the mission of the choral society.
Qualifications
Preferred DMA in choral conducting, but will consider a combination of advanced choral conducting degree with experience.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Extensive knowledge of choral literature, in a variety of historic musical styles and traditions, and knowledge of both
traditional masterworks and contemporary works.
Illustrated experience and creativity in programming concerts.
Experience coordinating the musical elements of presenting concerts.
