Prague Choral Festival
Smetana Hall, Prague,
Czech Republic
July 10-18, 2011
Featuring Dr. Anton Armstrong and
Dr. André Thomas
Dr. Michael Murphy, our Artistic and Music Director, has received a special invitation to bring Idaho-Washington Concert Chorale members to a very special choral festival taking place in Prague, Czech Republic on July 10-18, 2011.
This festival will give us an exceptional opportunity to perform in the famed Smetana Hall with one of the leading European professional symphony orchestras, the Czech National Symphony.
In addition, America’s most beloved choral directors, Dr. Anton Armstrong and Dr. André Thomas, will join us to conduct Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem.
For the final gala concert, the Prague Choral Festival will join forces with the large-scale annual Musica Ecumenica International Festival. The concert will be promoted across Prague, and it will most certainly attract many enthusiastic listeners.
In addition to this performance opportunity, workshops, clinics, and other musical and cultural activities will be available.
Chorale members are encouraged to take advantage of this remarkable opportunity. Download the following documents or visit the Prague Choral Festival website for more information.
Updated Information on Plane Tickets
Hi Travelers!
Below please find a quote on airfare from Spokane via Seattle and Heathrow to Prague and return. I received it from Carol Tuttle of Sunrise Travel in Everett, WA, an agent with whom I have worked in the past in scheduled trips to Africa and Vancouver, BC. The is not a “group” ticket – it would be individual tickets but we could fly together as a group. I have found that a “group” ticket would cost considerably more. The other advantage to an individual ticket is that you can arrange with Carol for your own trip plans. For example, Karen and I plan to fly to Helsinki, Finland following the Festival and will make those arrangements through Carol.
So my recommendation is that we purchase flight tickets through her to fly together from Spokane on July 10, returning on July 18th. If you’d like to purchase your tickets this way, please contact Carol Tuttle immediately at 425-258-4455 and purchase your tickets. Prices for flights will only go up so now is the time.
If you have questions, please contact me. Best wishes. Jack Kelly, IWCC President

FAQ’s
Q: Could I arrange for my own travel and lodging to save on costs but still participate in the Prague Choral Festival activities?
A: Unfortunately, no. The costs cover honoraria presented to the conductors, as well as lodging and other expenses associated with the event. It’s not possible to break down the total costs to be paid on an itemized basis.
Q: Is it too late for me to turn in my application?
A: No, it is not too late! Print off the application, fill it out, and bring it with you to rehearsal, along with the deposit money. If you are not singing with us for this set of concerts, send your application and deposit to:

Q: Who should I make my check out to?
A: Make your check out to IWCC. Make sure you write ‘Prague Choral Festival’ in the Memo line. Do not pay the Prague Choral Festival directly.
